Whether you are using Session or Cookie based management, IIS still issues cookies to the web browser. As a result, it is possible that some (or all) of your users may have issues connecting to Ultimate Survey.

There are several scenarios that can occur:

1. Internet temporary files need to be cleared
This is likely if only a handful (or fewer) of your users are having problems. This is caused when Internet Explorer/Netscape runs out of room to store files on the user's PC. This is not caused by a lack of hard disk space, but rather by a lack of space allocated to temporary internet files. To remedy this problem, clear the temporary files on the affected machine by opening the "Internet Options" control panel in Windows. On the general tab, press the "Delete Files" button and proceed to delete the files.

2. Reset browser security and privacy settings
This is a possibility if you are experiencing problems with users that are on the same network (or intranet). This scenario is often caused by implementing a security policy which restricts 3rd party cookies. To remedy this situation, open the "Internet Options" control panel on the affected machine. From there, go to the "Security" tab and reset to the default level. Next, go to the "Privacy" tab and move the slider to "Medium".

3. Implement a P3P Policy
With many of the newer web browsers (IE 6.0 for example), many browsers do not consitently accept cookies if your web server does not have a P3P privacy. P3P is a new privacy preferences project (http://www.w3.org/P3P/) which requires your web server to have a valid P3P.xml file which states your sites privavy policy. If you would like a sample P3P file, please contact us through the Help Desk.
