How to migrate an installation of Ultimate Survey Enterprise 3.0.x software from one server to anoth

The following instructions will guide you through the process of moving your Ultimate Survey Enterprise .NET survey software from one server to another.

These instructions are for version 3.0 and above.

Important Note: These instructions assume that you are not moving the database to another server. We do not provide help with moving databases, but Microsoft has plenty of documentation on this.
1 . Copy your existing Ultimate Survey installation directory and all its contents to the new server.

2 . Replace the web.config file in the new installation with a clean copy. You can obtain a clean copy of the web.config file from the Ultimate Survey archive file. If you do not have the archive, you can download it from the customer area of our website (http://www.prezzatech.com/support/members).

3. Follow the instructions in InstallInstructions.htm. When you get to part of the online setup that asks you to specify the database location, fill out the information and click Submit. You will see a screen that indicates that the database is already set up at that location, and you can continue through the process without overwriting the database.

4. When you get to the login screen, log in as an Administrator, and go to Settings, then click Application Settings. Review the image and email settings and make sure they are valid.

5. Activate the license.

6. If you had images uploaded on the original server, copy the Images/Upload folder to the Images directory on the new server.

7. You are now ready to run Ultimate Survey on the new server.

We strongly recommend that you update your Ultimate Survey installation to the latest release. Once you have confirmed that the migration has been successful review the PatchInstructions.htm contained in the Ultimate Survey archive you downloaded in step 2.
